Twice a month, our family meets in Bradenton for
Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat worship services. With
the superb leadership of our Steering Committee and
lay service leader, Rena Morano, and advice and
counsel from Rabbi Barbara Aiello, we also celebrate all
the major holidays from Rosh Hashanah and Yom
Kippur to Hanukkah, from Tu B'shevat to Purim and
Passover. We do this with meaningful participatory
services combined with festive parties which all add up
to a feeling of togetherness rarely experienced in
synagogue life.
But that’s not all. Our family extends a helping hand
into the community with volunteer projects that include
work with migrant families, cancer patients,and
homeless people, just to name a few. The
Congregation Ner Tamid family makes regular contact
with those who are ill and starting in 5767 we brought
Yiddishkeit to those who cannot leave their homes.
They are our family, too.
Our younger family members attend our education
program which is held twice a month. In addition to
projects relating to Jewish culture and tradition, our
children can prepare to become Bar or Bat Mitzvah and
have a whole lot of fun in the process. Then, after Bar
and Bat Mitzvah (are you sitting?) our teens return!
The older members of our family can get an education
too, ranging from adult Bar and Bat Mitzvah
preparation, to Hebrew language classes, adult study
groups and conversion class as well.
